Lavender

Driving thru Provence during lavender season is very special!

There is a wonderful scent and perfume in the air!

I love the contrast of colors in this photo. First, you have the rows of the lavender fields. In front of the stone Provençal farmhouse you have the golden Spanish Broom bushes which in French is Genêt d’Espagne. The branches are long and supple and were used for sweeping. These golden bushes can be found throughout the Provençal countryside. Notice the Provence blue shutters on the Provençal home.
